Harry Tyrer has agreed a new one-year contract extension

Everton goalkeeper Harry Tyrer has agreed a new one-year contract extension with the Club until the end of June 2026.

The 22-year-old joined the Blues aged seven, impressing throughout his years in the Academy ranks, before continuing his development out on loan.

After a promising year at Chester last season, Tyrer has been enjoying a season-long loan at Chesterfield during the 2023/24 campaign, keeping 11 clean sheets in 39 National League starts, while helping the Spireites to claim the fifth-tier title and earn promotion to League Two.

“It’s a boyhood dream of mine to be at this club and it’s probably every Evertonians’ dream to be at this club,” he said.

“I’ve worked hard this season and that’s come with a lot of rewards. Last season, it was Chester. This season, it was Chesterfield. I’ve grown up a lot in the lower leagues and I’ve definitely come on leaps and bounds as a goalkeeper.

“I’ve enjoyed it a lot. I’ve grown up as a young player. It’s been a positive learning curve and it’s been great winning the league and enjoying that.”

Discussing his own development, Tyrer recognises the impact of previous Finch Farm training sessions alongside Everton and England No.1 Jordan Pickford, who he hails as “world class”.

“His quality shows through in training and shows in games,” said Tyrer on his Blues teammate. “He’s world class. He’s probably one of the best in the world right now.

“You just want to learn from him and learn what you can from him.”
Asked about his future targets for his career, Tyrer responded: “Definitely to play for the Senior Team. I think that’s everyone’s dream.

“I’d like to play as many games as possible and hopefully, one day, be walking out to either Goodison Park or Bramley-Moore Dock.”

On Tyrer’s new contract, Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, said: “We’re delighted for Harry to extend his deal with the Club. He’s a very promising young goalkeeper and we’ve been really impressed by his development over the years.

“We’ve kept in close contact with him throughout his time on loan and we believe he’s made the right steps so far in his career. We look forward to seeing him continue his progression at the Club.”
