Dele Alli was reportedly one of the first Everton players to report for pre-season training as he looks to rebuild his dwindling career. The attacking midfielder is back on Merseyside following a season-long loan spell with Besiktas which was cut short due to an injury that required surgery Alli still hopes he can make something of his time at Goodison Park, even though he faces an uphill battle to win over Sean Dyche. According to The Liverpool Echo, Alli was one of the first players back at Finch Farm as preparations for the 2023/24 campaign get underway.
It's a clear message of intent from the 27-year-old that he is serious about reviving his career, as he looks to shake off his recent injury and fitness struggles. The former Tottenham starlet managed just 17 appearances for Besiktas during his time in Istanbul, scoring three goals. Everton boss Dyche has already made it clear he does not know if there is a way back for Alli at the football club as his future could boil down to the player's form, attitude and condition in pre-season.
Speaking in April, the former Burnley boss spoke out on the England international after he was pictured next to a canister of laughing gas.
“There isn’t anything other than getting him fit,” Dyche said.
“I’ve heard all the noise, I’ve heard all the opinions and I’m pretty sure you’re aware that I like to make my own. But he needs to get fit. I’ve met him but I haven’t seen him train, I haven’t seen him play for Everton, I haven’t seen him train with us every day.
