The paperwork from Everton’s appeal suggests that a points deduction is now inevitable for Nottingham Forest this season, Football Insider can reveal.
The Toffees successfully appealed their 10-point deduction and had their original punishment reduced to six points on Monday (26 February). Attention now turns towards addressing Everton’s second charge and Nottingham Forest’s charge related to their 2022-23 accounts.
New fast-track regulations introduced by the Premier League state that both clubs will receive the verdict on their breaches before the end of the 2023-24 season. Following Everton’s successful appeal, the Premier League published a statement and the full written reasons behind the Appeal Board’s decisions.
Section 201 of that document states that “any breach of rule E.51 (i.e. any PSR Calculation showing losses of over £105m over the relevant period) warrants a points deduction, and nothing less than a points deduction.” As reported by The Times, Forest “admitted” to the Premier League that they were in breach of financial regulations having exceeded their allowable losses of £61million over three years. The finding from Everton’s appeal suggests that a points deduction for Forest this season is now inevitable given that the club admitted to excessive losses.
The size of that points deduction will depend on how excessive Forest’s losses were over the last three years.

The Premier League have confirmed Nottingham Forest have been hit with a points deduction for breaking financial regulations.
The Reds were charged with breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in January. They faced an independent commission on March 7 and 8 as they began their defence against that charge, and the verdict of that hearing has now been delivered Forest have been docked four points. It means they drop to 18th in the table with nine games remaining, having drawn 1-1 with Luton Town on Saturday in their final match before the international break.

How do they get 4 when we were given 10? Now they'll appeal, same as us.
